About Your Emails is a monthly Chamber education series designed for business owners, leaders, and teams. This series focuses on practical email strategies that support clear communication, stronger customer relationships, and long-term business growth.
Each session is structured to be approachable, strategic, and immediately applicable, with topics that build on one another throughout the year. Attendees will gain simple frameworks, real-world examples, and reusable tools that make email marketing communication easier and more effective over time.
Sessions are held from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m.
Location: City State Bank, 1225 Colonial Pkwy, Norwalk, Iowa
(November and December sessions will be held at Peoples Company in Cumming, Iowa.)

Learn all about seed starting and take home your own seed starts in this hands on workshop with Middlebrook's Farm Manager, Mosa!
We'll provide each gardener with the tools necessary to start your plants, including planting trays, potting soil, and gardening tools. We will have a limited variety of annual flowers, herbs, vegetable, and perennial grass seed available, all harvested from our garden at Middlebrook Farm! If you have specific things you want to grow this season, please bring your own seeds with you.
We also recommend you bring gardening gloves and clothes you don't mind getting dirty! Middlebrook's High Tunnel is climate controlled, so even if it's cold outside, the temperature inside will be comfortable. You'll leave the workshop with a range of potential plants (32-50) for your home garden. Our Farm Manager, Mosa Shayan, will lead the class and provide information about different methods of starting seeds, garden design & placement, planting, harvesting, and more!

Join us for our silent book club night every 4th Tuesday of the month. At silent book club night there is no assigned book or reading. All readers are welcome, bring your own book and a comfy lawn chair. This is your time to relax and read. Bring a friend with some snacks and come in to enjoy some handcrafted cocktails. Saturday, April 18: Tools & Composting
This two-in-one class will explore and review gardening tools for every day gardeners, including our Farm Manager’s own recommendations. You’ll also learn all about how to get started composting at home! Composting is a great way to recycle your food scraps and yard trim to save money by producing your own high-quality soil amendment.

The event begins at 5:30 PM with a farm talk led by Mosa Shayan, Middlebrook’s Farm Manager. Head to the Community High Tunnel in Middlebrook's town garden for a glass of wine, passed hors d’oeuvres, and a behind-the-scenes look at Middlebrook Farm.
At 6:00 PM, enjoy a thoughtfully crafted four-course dinner by Chef Katie Porter of Seasonal Palate, served in the cozy setting of The Farmhouse. The evening’s menu will highlight organic produce grown right here in Middlebrook’s town garden.
Mosa and Chef Katie first met while working together at The Wallace Centers of Iowa, where they spent eight years collaborating on farm-to-table dinners—Mosa growing the ingredients and Katie transforming them into memorable meals. We're thrilled to bring their partnership to life once again at Middlebrook.
Join us for a plant sale and seed swap in the Middlebrook Farm Stand!
We’ll have plants for sale and seeds to swap—all started right here in Middlebrook’s Town Garden—and our Farm Manager, Mosa Shayan will be around to answer any questions you have about starting your backyard garden!
We’ll have a variety of veggie, herb, flower, and native plant starts for sale in the Farm Stand from 10 AM – 2 PM.
If you can’t make it on May 2, we’ll continue to sell our starts in the Middlebrook Farm Stand (open 7 days a week during daylight hours), while supplies last.
Community Seed Swap Guidelines:
• The seed swap will take place from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 2.
• All seed swaps should be 1 for 1.
• Seeds should be packaged in paper envelopes or plastic baggie, individually labeled.
• Suggested quantity per package is 10-20 larger seeds, 20-30 pepper or tomato or â -½ tsp of smaller seeds.
• Packages labeled with seed name, variety name, year collected (should be in the last five years), and swapper’s first name. If applicable, include size, color, growth habits.
• You may also swap opened commercial seed packets dated 2022-2025 with at least half the original contents and taped closed. more info...
