Join us for a plant sale and seed swap in the Middlebrook Farm Stand!

We’ll have plants for sale and seeds to swap—all started right here in Middlebrook’s Town Garden—and our Farm Manager, Mosa Shayan will be around to answer any questions you have about starting your backyard garden!

We’ll have a variety of veggie, herb, flower, and native plant starts for sale in the Farm Stand from 10 AM – 2 PM.

If you can’t make it on May 2, we’ll continue to sell our starts in the Middlebrook Farm Stand (open 7 days a week during daylight hours), while supplies last.

Community Seed Swap Guidelines:
• The seed swap will take place from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 2.
• All seed swaps should be 1 for 1.
• Seeds should be packaged in paper envelopes or plastic baggie, individually labeled.
• Suggested quantity per package is 10-20 larger seeds, 20-30 pepper or tomato or ⅛ -½ tsp of smaller seeds.
• Packages labeled with seed name, variety name, year collected (should be in the last five years), and swapper’s first name. If applicable, include size, color, growth habits.
• You may also swap opened commercial seed packets dated 2022-2025 with at least half the original contents and taped closed.

Event Title: Tales & Tastings 

Description: Calling all book lovers, come GET LITerary with Iowa Distilling and the Norwalk Public Library! 

 

Join us each month for book club night featuring the Norwalk Library’s ‘Get Lit’ book club and ‘Blind Date With A Book’ by Lizde. During this event. the lounge will have cozy ‘coffee house’ atmosphere, with lo-fi music, popcorn to munch on (outside food is also welcome), and a featured cocktail/mocktail to go with the selected book.

 

This event has something for everyone! 

  • Try something new and join the Library’s “Get Lit” book club. Each month the Norwalk Library’s Get Lit book club will meet a discuss the book of the month, and we will feature a special cocktail and mocktail to go with the title.

  • Chill with your bartender and make progress towards your reading goals in a quite atmosphere with good drinks.

  • Bring a friend and share what you’ve been reading lately.

  • Find new reads with Lizde and get book recommendations.

 

However you want to enjoy books, we’ve got you covered!

 

Don’t have anything to read? Buy a new book from ‘Blind Date With A Book’ by Lizde, who will be there selling wrapped books with clues to the title and book-ish merchandise. (Anyone who purchases a beverage will have their name put into a drawing to win a ‘Blind Date With A Book’ from Lizde that night.) You can also see what your bartenders and other patrons are reading by checking out our Book Review board in the lounge.

 

This month’s book is: The Book Club for Troublesome Women by Marie Bostwick; Truth Serum cocktail/mocktail *this was a cocktail featured in the book: vodka, mint simple syrup, white grape juice, sparkling water (Get Lit is meeting early this month due to event conflicts.)

Swing by the Merc Wednesday, May 20 as the Friends of Des Moines Parks takes over the bar to raise money to support Des Moines' 92 parks, 100+ miles of trail, community recreation centers and gardens, aquatic facilities and numerous recreational programs.

Sip on their signature cocktail, the Trail-tini, and snack on Chex mix. The Merc is conveniently located right off the Great Western Bike Trail in Cumming for those that prefer to pedal in!

As always, all tips between 5:00 - 8:00 PM will be donated back to the organization.
